Five for Friday

1.  This week a wonderful woman passed on from this earth life.  My Grandma Ogden...just 2 weeks shy of her 100th birthday died on Wednesday morning.  She has had a difficult time lately with her vision, hearing, cognition, etc.  It was not unexpected.  I have so many wonderful memories of going to my grandparents house when I was young.  She is a wonderful example to me.  I love her.

2.  Little League continues...even though we have games 5 nights a week...it hasn't been too bad.  Of course, dinner is a bit lacking at our house lately...and the house is a mess because we haven't been as consistent with afternoon zones...but otherwise it is going pretty well!

3.  We had our last day of school this for this year!  We are officially on summer break!  Yahoo!  We are all ready for a change of pace for a couple of months.

4. Corbin had his one year check up on Friday.  He just perfect!  But...he's still at the 4th percentile for length!

5.  Kessiah is learning Pacabel's Cannon right now.  One of my most favorite songs!

A thought on motherhood

I was reading an article today about an artist named Liz Lemon Swindle...something she said really caught my attention.

"I knew that raising a family was the most important thing I would do in this life, and I didn't want the art to interfere with that.  I also knew I needed the Lord's help as an artist, and I could only expect him to do his part if I did mine.  So I made a choice when I had children that I would only paint after I put you all in bed.  I did my part, and the Lord did his."

I really thought that was wonderful...it was a reminder to me to put my kids first during the day while they are awake.

Mother's Day

It was a really good day.  I was treated to a breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast.  Kessiah, Jenessa, Sienna, and Logan all sang with the Primary today during Sacrament Meeting...as usual, it brought tears to my eyes.  All the women in the ward got a chocolate candy bar after the meeting...yummy.  On our way out the door to go home after the meeting block, a woman in our ward made the comment to us "Isn't it amazing what ten years can do!"  She was referring to our family...and she was right on!  I never would have guessed 10 years ago that my life would look like this.  I have been incredibly blessed and surprised!

Here I am surrounded by some of my favorite blessings!

Ryan made me (and the rest of the family!) dinner...salmon, rice, veggies and cheesecake.  Yummy!!!  He also bought me some beautiful flowers a couple of days ago (knowing that the father-son campout might make it difficult to go shopping on Saturday...which it did!)

Five for Friday

Another week as flown by at the Judy house...here is some of what happened

1.  I am continuing to wean Corbin off the bottle...truthfully, I could probably do it faster, but I do still have some formula left...and I'm a little reluctant knowing this is my baby!  I enjoy the cuddle time with him and I realize that this "baby" time is coming to an end.  This week I've given him a 6 ounce bottle in the morning when he wakes up and another one right before he goes to bed.  He is doing well with a cup during the day.  Corbin has also been standing up a lot more this week...it won't be too long before he is walking!

2.  We had 4-H Community Meeting on Wednesday.  Sienna missed her game and we had to leave a little early to get Kessiah to her game.  This was the last meeting of the year...so the annual pizza party. It was held at a park...so the kids enjoyed running around on the grass and playing on the equipment.

3.  Thursday was our monthly Relief Society meeting. All the girls in the ward 8 and up were invited...and several girls younger than that were also there.   It was a night where several people got up for 5 minutes to teach something.  I got up with Sienna and Jenessa and we demonstrated our super easy pumpkin chocolate chip muffin/cupcakes.  Kessiah played a couple of songs on the piano.  It was a fun evening and the girls asked if they could go every month!

4.  It looks like Mason will be attending a preschool next year.  I took him to get assessed a couple of weeks ago and today I met with some people at the preschool to see if he qualified...and he does.  This is kind of weird for me as I have never sent any of my kids to preschool.  I was in a preschool co-op with Kessiah...but this is different.  It is with the school district and he will be able to continue getting speech therapy and physical therapy...which is why I want him to go.  They only operate the school 3 days a week...which I like.

5.  Ryan took Logan on the Father and Son Campout tonight.  The girls are extremely jealous and Mason had trouble going to sleep without his bedroom buddy.   Later...the girls ended up sleeping in sleeping bags on the family room floor after we watched a couple of movies.

Five for Friday

1.  Corbin is one...which for me means that it's time to wean him off the bottle.  This week, I backed off to 3 bottles a day.  6 ounces when he woke up, 4 before his afternoon nap, and 6 before bed.  He is doing better with a cup and he has been eating more.  It was a little leap of faith when I went to Little League games this week with no bottle, just his cup of milk and lots of snacks...but he did great.

2.  Corbin has started trying to stand more.  I caught him standing for about 10 seconds once during the week.

3.  Little League games continue to make our lives pretty busy right now.  Sienna got hit in the eye during warm ups before one of her games.  We got some ice on it and she was fine.  The next day there was a slight bruise...but she hasn't complained about it.

4.  Sienna and Logan had dentist appointments on Friday morning.  These two have not had the best luck with dental health...I take the blame for most of that.  But during the last 6 months I have been a lot better about reminding them to brush before bed and Ryan has been flossing their teeth every Sunday evening.  Sienna had no cavities and Logan had 2 small ones that need to be filled.  My plan is to start brushing Logan's teeth twice a week...which will probably help me brush Mason's as weel...which I should be doing anyway.

5.  We are getting anxious for summer around here.  We are trying to wrap up our final school assignments and getting ready to enjoy a change of pace.
