Five for Friday

1.  We met several other families at the park on Monday evening for Family Home Evening.  We played kickball, ate snacks that everyone brought to share, chatted and the kids all played with each other.  It was a nice evening.

2.  We have all the boys sleeping in the same room now!  Wow!  That means our closet does not have a baby in it...after 14 months!  I have to say that the first night Corbin lasted 10 minutes in the crib...then he woke Mason up with his crying and I had to move him back to the closet.  The next night he didn't make a peep...we couldn't believe it!  The next nights he cried for about 10 minutes and then he is fine.  I have found I have to wait for Mason to be asleep before I put Corbin in bed or it just doesn't work!

3.  When we put up the bunk beds for the boys Ryan told Logan that he had to stay in his bed now...since we got him a brand new bunk bed!!!  (He had been coming into our room every night and sleeping on the floor)  Now Logan stays in bed and Mason has started coming into our room in the middle of the night!  So I guess we traded one boy for another...oh well...all of our kids have done this at one point!

4.  This was the last week of swimming lessons.  I got us signed up for the next session in July.  Logan could have moved up to the next class but it was full with a huge waiting list so I just kept him in the same class.  Sienna moved up to the next class.  Jenessa and Kessiah were in the same class.  Their regular teacher was gone so I don't know if they graduated or not...so I signed them up to repeat the class.

5.  Wildman Phil was the program at the library this week.  He is always a popular show with the animals he brings to show the kids.  I love how he always starts small with lizards and ends up with the big snakes!

Five for Friday

1.  If you know Logan like we know Logan you know that he is a talker...I mean this kid can talk nonstop for a long time.  I sometimes have to tell him to stop talking just so I can listen to myself think for a minute!  We were talking about his talking habits during the week and he said "I must have really good mouth muscles!"  Funny kid!

2.  We got bunk beds and mattresses for the boys this week.  As of Friday night, they are set up...but I need to get mattress covers and sheets...so they will have to wait until tomorrow night to sleep in them for the first time.  The plan is also to move Corbin into the room in the crib...we'll see how that goes!

3.  Jenessa had her end of the season softball party this week at the park.  It was fun for her to get together with her teammates...it was a good for all of us because it was at a park.  The younger ones got to play at the playground and Kessiah and Jenessa played in the game that was girls vs. some parents!  Plus there was pizza!

4.  Swimming lessons, the summer library reading program and piano lessons all continued this week.

5.  The girls talked Ryan into skipping the summer movie today and instead take them to a movie that just came out...BRAVE.  I stayed home with Corbin and Mason, I'll see it when it comes out on DVD.

Father's Day 2012

Ryan is a great dad!  The kids LOVE him...and so do I!    He is the fun one, the joker, the pancake maker.

Five for Friday

1.We had a great week...Jenessa and Sienna had a play date, Kessiah had an orthodontist appointment (and found out she may get this set of braces off in 2 months!), Mason's speech therapist came over and was very pleased at how well he was talking (she hadn't seen him in a month).  The kids had a great week at swimming lessons...I got in the pool with Mason and Corbin one of the days.

2.  The library program this week was outside and it was HOT!  A cowboy came and talked about a lot of the things and clothing that cowboys use.  He even brought his horse!  Unfortunately, I think the heat got to Corbin.  He threw up (a lot) about 5 minutes before the cowboy was done.  Oh yes, right there in the middle of everyone...thankfully we had a little space around us, so I don't think he got it on anyone else!

3.  I went to Relief Society this week.  It's been good for me to go to those this year, I enjoy connecting with the other women in our ward.

4.  Mason had an eye doctor appointment in Mesa on Friday morning.  The doctor said that he seems to be doing fine.  He is noticing a slight wander in his eye and more of a head tilt (which I have also noticed), but he does not recommend another surgery at this time.  Ryan took him to this appointment.

5.  While Ryan and Mason were in Mesa, I took the other kids to the summer movie at the theatre.  Corbin did pretty good.  I did have to stand with him after about an hour and I went in the foyer for the last 15 minutes.

Five for Friday

1.  On Monday we spent the day coming home.  Not an easy trip, especially for the two youngest boys.  I've said for awhile now that that trip is torture for a 2 year old boy!

2.  This was our first week at adjusting to our summer routine...it really felt like the first week of summer vacation.  It should be a great one!  I'm trying to be a little more organized in planning some activities for us to do.

3.  This was the last week of Little League.  Jenessa's team met at Dairy Queen after her last game.  Kessiah missed her team party on Friday because she was sick.  (Ryan took Jenessa, Sienna, and Logan to the closing ceremony on Saturday...Kessiah was still sick)

4.  We got back into swimming lessons this week.  The kids enjoyed being back in the pool.  I didn't take Mason and Corbin in the pool this week since Corbin has not been feeling well this week.  Kessiah and Jenessa are in the last class...I'm not sure what I'll do with them next summer!  Sienna is in the class right under them...she is a little fish.  Logan is repeating the first class and I'm going to wait until next summer to start Mason.

5.  It was also the first week of the summer reading program at the library.  The kids were very excited...especially Kessiah and Jenessa who don't usually get to go to the library since they are doing piano lessons at our regular library time.

Five (or Ten) for Friday

This will really cover two weeks.  I have spent the last two weeks in Richfield.  We had a birthday party planned for my grandparents who were turning 100 on May 31 and June 1.  But then my grandma died about two weeks before her birthday.  I didn't want to drive back and forth for both events so I ended up staying.  Ryan brought Kessiah and Jenessa back the second week because he had to go to work and the girls didn't want to miss their softball games.

1.  The funeral was nice (as nice as a funeral can be!).  When someone passes away 2 weeks shy of their 100th birthday is isn't a tragic event....she lived a long, good life.  It was more like a family reunion.  I will miss my grandma, she was such a sweet woman...but my sadness from her death is for my grandpa.  A picture was in order...it's been awhile since I was with all 3 of my brothers at the same time!

2.  We did have the birthday party for my grandpa...another family reunion.  It was fun to see my cousins...some of whom I haven't seen in a long time.  Kessiah and Jenessa each played a piano piece during the program.  The kids had a great time playing with their cousins.

3.  Corbin had one of his top teeth pop through while we were gone...the other one is close.

4.  After the birthday party, I had the opportunity to hike Bullshead.  Bullshead is a peak on the outskirts of Richfield.  It is a traditional Ogden hike...although I haven't been up there for several years.  I think there were 22 of us that hiked up.  From the Wayne Ogden clan I hiked up with Ryan, Kessiah, David and Emily.

 5.  Life in Richfield is a change of pace.  I don't have internet access there and life moves at a slower pace.  It was nice to have a change.  We were able to go to the library, the pool, the theatre, BBQ in the backyard, and we went to a park nearly every day.  I also got my hair cut (it's pretty short!) with my girls.  Kessiah kept her hair long, but Jenessa and Sienna wanted theirs pretty short.

6.   While I was there with the four youngest, Linnea took us to her house to ride a horse...well...Sienna and Logan rode a horse.  They thought it was great!  Sienna especially thought is was the best moment of her life!  She cried when we had to leave!

7.   The night after the birthday party all the grandkids (except for the babies) slept in the backyard!

8.  All of us were together...it was a good opportunity to take a picture!

9.  I was able to make it to the Manti temple twice while I was there.  Once with Ryan and once while he was in Arizona.  That was great since it is so hard for us to get there.  Both times I was there with my grandpa...that was neat.

10.  I couldn't resist adding this picture of Mason and Grandpa.  Mason LOVES the ipad and it looks like he showing Grandpa how the thing works!
